VIRTUAL INSTRUCTOR-LED & REMOTE TRAINING
Struggling to get everyone in the same room at the same time?
Probably a set of reasons might include:
Learning is easier to deliver in chunks
Project based staff
Non-disruptive delivery
Remote workers
Regular updates
Remote training delivery
Virtual instructor-led training (VILT) is one of the fastest growing methods of internet-based learning delivery and offers a practical solution for reaching widely dispersed learners efficiently and cost-effectively.
It is progressively being employed as part of a blended learning solution for training and development. Transforming the way people learn; on and off the job.
VILT, or Virtual Classroom Training (VCT), combines the benefits of classroom-based training with the accessibility of a virtual or simulated learning environment, while save costs. With this type of remote training learners still benefit from the group dynamic, live facilitator interaction and feedback and peer-based learning. The key variance being the delegates and instructor are not physically in the same location.
Delivering successful VILT sessions
Delivery is typically done via a web based conferencing suite using web cams, interactive whiteboards, break out rooms and polls to support learner engagement.
VILT allows training to be delivered in smaller learning chunks and participation can be more flexible to accommodate for additional learners than face-to-face training, without any additional costs.
Successful VILT sessions are run by facilitators with great communications skills who incorporate a range of engagement and collaborative tools to enable interaction and involvement with the learners; enhancing the overall learner experience.
Tim Clauge discusses the two elements of the learner experience in his article Engaging the Head and the Heart of the Learner.
